Grapevine-Colleyville politics are always messy. This year's school board runoff election is no different. The highly respected, two-term incumbent Mindy McClure faces a runoff election from a West Texas funded challenger with no experience.

Mindy McClure got an early start in education as her mother was a teacher. McClure and her husband raised five children. Her three sons graduated from Grapevine High School. During the last twenty-five years, she actively helped grow the Colleyville community.

While her children were in school, she served as a classroom volunteer, PTA Board Member & Officer, and GCISD Council of PTAs Board Member. Mindy also helped raise money through the booster clubs at Bransford Elementary, Colleyville Elementary, Colleyville Middle, and Grapevine High School.

Outside of the school GCISD school system, she works with local leaders to help build our community as a member of the Colleyville Lions Club, the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce Women’s Division, and the Tarrant County Big Brothers Big Sisters 2.0 Mentorship Program. Over the years, Mindy volunteered in various roles with the Boy Scouts, from Pack 28 den leader to popcorn “kernel” in Pack 228 and summer camp chaperone in Troop 1905.

McClure serves the Colleyville community with transparency, integrity, and facts. She and her husband Rick are members of Compass Christian Church.

McClure was first elected to the Grapevine-Colleyville Board of Trustees in 2015. She reelected in 2018. She served as Board Secretary from 2017-2019 until she began her term as Board Vice-President.

McClure is a recipient of multiple awards. She won the GCISD Council of PTA's Friend of Children Award, the Council's Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership, and Grapevine High School PTSA gave her the 2020 Extended Service Award.

In her third term on the GCISD Board, McClure hopes she can continue "the positive direction and culture in our district." She states on her campaign website,

"Campuses are working together across the District like never before, and it is so important that continue.  We are so much stronger when we pull together, and that has been very evident in the District's strong response when faced with COVID. GCISD has been very good to the McClure Family, and I hope through my service to pay it forward for many families to come."

McClure's top three priorities for her third GCISD Board term are the District's Covid-19 response, communication plan, and budget. As the only Board member with a legal degree, she offers a unique perspective

Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Covid-19 Response

McClure served on the GCISD during the Covid-19 pandemic. The District was well-prepared for the stay-at-home orders as students already had district-issued devices. During the 2020 Summer break, Board members worked with the district administrators to improve remote learning programs and to put in safety protocols for in-person learning.

McClure supports all students returning to campus in-person learning this fall and plans to ensure policies and procedures are in place to keep students and teachers safe.

Community Communication

McClure is a vocal cheerleader of GCSID's success. Her open-door policy makes her accessible to anyone in the community. She wants families to understand why GCISD is considered a destination district that ensures rising property values for residents.

She plans to improve district communication among everyone in the community, including those whose children have already graduated and parents with children too young to enroll in school. She celebrates the GCISD Aspire program for advanced students and the District's commitment to STEM programs, the arts, and athletics. Mcclure helped grow the dyslexia program and the Career and Tech Education department.

Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Budget

McClure brings years of experience managing the GCISD budget on the board level leading the Dallas Morning News to name our District a Top 100 Places to Work. She understands the incredible teachers in GCISD stay because of the positive work environment and the community support.

GCISD has maintained the highest financial rating from the Financial Integrity Rating System for the last 18 years. The District has an AA+ rating from S&P; the highest rating offered to Texas school districts.

Opponents are promoting a taxpayer-funded Colleyville charter school that would take students away from GCISD.

I’ve always held true to my belief that as a trustee, I am responsible for representing and supporting the children, the families and the employees of our district… each and every one of them.  I thank you for your support as I continue this mission.

You can hear Mindy McClure share her story in this video.
