Beef in Japan is in a league of it’s own so we were very excited to visit the always popular steakhouse, The Oak Door at Grand Hyatt Tokyo. Boasting a buzzing ambiance, chic open kitchen, terrace dining space and friendly service, it’s the ideal spot to enjoy a clear night in the city. The menu is full of classic steakhouse favourites using top quality ingredients. Most of what was on offer is soured from Japan and highlighted the country’s mouthwatering produce. Highlights off the menu included the Chorizo de Bellota with Cripsy Goats Cheese and Shizuoka Colourful Tomatoes, the 48 Months Joselito Iberico Ham, the Seafood on Ice with Atlantic Lobster, Taraba Crab, Scallop Ceviche and Sustainable Tiger Prawns, the Ahi Poke using Big Eye Tuna, Avocado, Sesame and Lavoche Bread, the Caesar Salad with Baby Gem Lettuce, Sourdough Croutons and Oak Door Bacon, the refreshing and vibrant Fruit Tomato with Organic Sweet Onion and Extra Virgin Olive Oil and their sweet, fresh Sizzling Scallops which were perfectly paired with a generous serving of herb butter. Their steaks are of course a must order and we recommend sharing a few of their signature mains including the extremely flavourful Japanese F1 Sirloin, juicy US F1 Tenderloin and fragrant Roasted Shingen Chicken with Chimichurri. They also offer an array of tempting desserts including The Oak Door Pavlova with fresh Raspberries, meringue and cream, and the The Soft Serve Ice Cream Sundae was an ideal summer treat and indulgent finish to our delicious meal. A perfect venue for fun group dinners or a date night out.
