Five Great Restaurants Around the North Shore

The North Shore of Chicago is generally accepted to consist of the suburbs around Cook County that border Lake Michigan. This area includes Winnetka, Wilmette, Deerfield, Northfield, Glencoe and many other towns. The North Shore is commonly seen as a culmination of very affluent neighborhoods full of the highly educated upper class. One notable attraction in the North Shore includes the very famous and popular Ravinia Festival which commonly hosts a variety of concerts during the year. Another fun fact about the area is that many famous movies have been filmed around the North Shore including titles like Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Cheaper by the Dozen, and the Home Alone series.

The North Shore of Chicago is home to many suburbs but also has some pretty great food options as well. Heres a list of five great locations to check out if you're in the area.

1. Lou Malnati's

Deep dish pizza is a classic Chicago food and Lou Malnati's is one of the local establishments that does Chicago deep dish best. When you are downtown in the city it might be hard to find a Lou Malnati's close by but around the suburbs, Lou Malnati's can be found much more frequently.

Lou Malnati's has multiple locations across the North Shore. There is a location in Evanston at 1850 Sherman Ave and in Wilmette at 3223 Lake Ave.

2. Avli

Avli is a very popular Greek restaurant found in Winnetka. The most popular items in many Greek eateries are done to perfection at Avli where you can find some of the best gyros, spanakopita, and saganaki around. In addition to these popular Greek options, there are also other amazing choices on the menu such as their lobster pasta, kataifi prawns, or their lamb burgers.

Avli actually has a few locations in Chicago but the location in the North Shore can be found located at 566 Chestnut St.

3. George Trois

George Trois was created by the legendary chef Michael Lachowicz and offers a very exciting and unique French dining experience. At George Trois, chef Lachowicz delivers a very close knit and intimate restaurant that prides itself on its highly specialized tasting menu. The establishment itself only sits five tables and focuses in quality instead of quantity.

George Trois can be found located at 64 Green Bay Rd.

4. Depot Nuevo

Depot Nuevo is a Mexican restaurant found in Wilmette that is most well known for their experimental mixed margaritas and a legendary tequila menu that is curated to perfectly pair with their dining menu. The most popular dishes ordered at Depot Nuevo include most of their tacos or burritos. The establishment itself is also very open and has a very energetic atmosphere which futher elevates each meal. If the weather is nice, eating outside on their porch is a great experience to try out as well.

Depot Nuevo can be found located at 1139 Wilmette Ave.

5. Bob Chinn's Crab House

Bob Chinn's Crab House is one of the best locations to visit if you are looking for seafood in Chicago. The establishment has been serving the North Shore for over three decades now and is proud to serve impossibly fresh seafood imported from areas like Alaska, Hawaii, and New Zealand. Despite being known to be one of the best seafood houses around Chicago, Bob Chinn's also takes advantage of the surf and turf combo to present its patrons some of the best wet aged prime steaks that are even better than a lot of the steakhouses you might find around the area.
