Houston is the tip of the culinary spear of Texas' most innovative dining trends, and food trucks are leading the charge. Houston food trucks are the perfect solution for a quick meal on the go.

From Korean fusion to waffle burgers, H-Town's mobile food trucks offer an impressive array of quality food you can enjoy outdoors in the Texas warmth.

As a bonus, during these pandemic times, they offer a delicious way to avoid indoor dining.

Although some people are apprehensive about food trucks, these will give even a four-star restaurant a run for their money regarding value and flavor. What's more, they will beat out most fast-service restaurants when it comes to speed of delivery.

When you're running errands and looking for a quick bite to eat, food trucks are the perfect curbside solution. No longer are food trucks looked down on by people on the go, especially for folks seeking specialty items like vegan, barbecue, lobster rolls, tacos, or sandwiches.

Whether you're looking for some lunchtime sustenance or late-night food after a few hours at the bar, there's no shortage of options in Houston. But while any food truck is good enough when you're hungry and in a pinch, not all Houston food trucks are created equal.

Luckily, we've compiled the best food trucks to keep an eye out for below--along with their favorite hangouts and what to order once you find them!

Social media is updated most often and will have the latest information on location and hours, so be sure to check them out first to verify this all.

So without waiting another #nomnom minute, here are some of our top picks and a fav dish to grab while you're there.

1. Oh My Gogi! BBQ

Since 2011, H-Towners have been going nuts for this quirky yet delish food truck. And why not? Especially when you combine Mexican food with Korean.

Trust us, it works deliciously.

Let's just say that the typical food truck foods like tacos, sandwiches, and quesadillas are influenced by Mexican and Korean flavors in a big way.

We recommend a kimchi stir-fry melt on Texas toast and add on sriracha sauce or a fried egg. Grab an order of the OMG! fries, topped with bulgogi, spicy mayo, onions, and cilantro.

Boom!

Location: find them at Katy Asian Town or Rice Village.

2. Eatsie Boys

We're pretty much drawn to a truck with beer, and when you throw in stellar nosh the way these guys do, then you sit and stay.

This chef-driven food truck is H-Town's longest-running one thus far.

Sandwiches like the ooey-gooey spinach artichoke grilled cheese are unique and frankly to die for. The "No Sleep 'til Philly," a cheesesteak layered with caramelized onions and 8th Wonder beer cheese sauce, is a melt in your mouth must.

Seriously, get them both.

Pop in for a $6 burger & fries happy meal from 3–7 pm, Monday through Thursday.

Location: you can find them parked at the 8th Wonder Brewery in EaDo

3. The Waffle Bus

You never knew you needed a waffle sandwich until the day you do.

You'll likely not go back to a "regular" burger after having a waffle burger made with black Angus beef sandwiched between two fluffy golden waffles.

With a side of thunder fries — you know, that delicious mess of seasoned waffle fries topped with a generous drizzle of spicy mayo and ancho chile honey butter, you'll think you're in waffle heaven.

They've got the classics like waffles with Nutella, and Chicken and waffles too.

The Waffle Bus food truck can be found Downtown on Thursday nights from 7 pm to 2 am and Fridays and Saturdays from 7 pm to 2:30 am.

Location: 1835 N Shepherd Dr, Suite A

4. Gyro King

Halal Mediterranean specialties like falafel sandwiches, lamb gyros, chicken over rice, and heaping combo platters topped with their signature white sauce are what you'll find in this Medical Center based truck.

The idea is Mediterranean' street food', right in the center of H-Town. Options like chicken and rice, spot-on falafel, and gyros piled with lamb, chicken, fish, and chapli kebab are the name of the game here.

One of our favs is the gyro and chicken platter paired with one of the truck's fresh-pressed vegetable or fruit juices.

Location: 2424 Old Spanish Trail in the Medical Center

5. The Cuban Spot

With plenty of incredible options, the show's star is, of course, the classic Cuban.

The iconic classic has the usual cast of succulent characters like ham, pulled pork, mustard, pickles, and swiss cheese on a buttered and pressed Cuban bun' and it's expertly executed here.

Other menu notables include fritas (mixed beef, pork, and chorizo burgers piled with potato sticks), tostones (fried plantains), and saucy-loaded fries.

'Nuff said.

Location: generally closed on Monday and Tuesday; your best bet is to head to their website to see where they're at.

The final bite

While there are literally dozens of options in Houston, we hope we've given you a little peek into some great, truck-based nosh.
