It’s almost summer, and I’ve been trying to figure out fun things that I can do this season! I know New York City is just full of fun activities, and I’ve written an article all about free things to do in the city this summer (so if you haven’t already - go check it out right now)! But I think one of the best summer activities is to go to museums. It’s a great way to escape the summer heat and experience something new!
I absolutely love going to museums, such a great way to spend a few hours and learn about the fascinating history of the city, art, culture and more! I didn’t even know this until very recently, but SO many of the museums in the city are either always free, or offer free days or hours! So you can get admission to and enjoy all the museum exhibits completely free! Here’s a list of some of my favorites:
Always Free:
- American Museum of Natural History
- The MoMA PS1
- Museum at FIT
- Queens Botanical Gardens
- NYC Public Library
- Brooklyn Museum
- Waterfront Museum
Free Days
- The MoMA (Fridays 5:30 - 9pm)
- 9/11 Museum (Tuesday 5pm - close)
- Morgan Library (Tuesday 3 - 5pm)
- NY Botanical Gardens (Tuesday all day)
- Guggenheim (Saturday 5 - 8pm)
- New Museum (Thursday 7 - 9pm)
- Brooklyn Botanical Garden (Tuesday all day)
- Bronx Zoo (Wednesday all day)
So If you guys like going to museums then definitely check out some of these great choices this summer! I know I definitely will, and since I am on a budget, I will for sure be taking advantage of these free days and free hours! I think the only thing better than going to museums and getting to learn so much interesting history is getting to do is absolutely free!
Let me know in the comments what your favorite museums in New York City are!
