The making of Devine Plantery
deVINE plantery was founded by childhood best friends, Kelly Brown and Maya Haynie and was created out of an abundance of love for the beauty and serenity that caring for plants can bring to the human life. And in this time when a lot of people are indoors, having plants to care for can be very therapeutic so this makes it the perfect time to have a plant shop.
From childhood friendship to business partners - meet the co-founders of deVINE plantery
Co-founder Maya Haynie
Maya's first encounter with houseplants started like most people's, with a trip to IKEA and the purchase of a yucca. From that point forward, she was obsessed, and slowly grew her indoor jungle, plant by plant, until her entire apartment was full. Maya has a strong background in digital marketing and currently manages organix channels for a startup in Manhattan.
Co-founder Kelly Brown
Kelly is currently an engineer working for a medical device company and loves everything 3D printing. Funny enough, she got her love of plants from Maya. While getting her Bachelor's in Bioengineering at Temple University, she became more and more enamored with surrounding her space and life with plants.
Together, Maya and Kelly are a force to reckon with in the plant business and Montclair, New Jersey.
A brand new location in Montclair, New Jersey coming in summer 2021
A big move for Maya and Kelly. They are getting a new brick and mortar shop (their own space) to further scale their business and the shop is opening this summer. They are currently crowdfunding to help with the cost of this project, including renovations.
