We were so intrigued by this little food kiosk near the Beaverton Library that we went twice to savor all of their treats and savory items.
Don Churro is a local treasure!
They are open only three days a week- Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, so we are thrilled that we got to enjoy their food.
The beautiful little kiosk that Don Churro inhabits has had many owners. It has changed hands many times, but I feel that this business has the work ethic and the charm to sustain its business for the long run.
The first time we came here was on a Saturday evening. We wanted a bit of dessert, and we were at the right place!
Our son got the churro sundae, and it is a beautiful sight to behold!
It has a big mound of delicious strawberry ice cream topped with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, sprinkles, and a cherry. Fresh, cinnamon sugar churros stick out the sides of this delectable treat.
I recommend sharing this with two or three other people. My son was not able to finish it and stuck it in the freezer to enjoy later on.
My husband and I decided to share the churro platter. I love how it is displayed in a pizza box. There are many flavors of churros, including chocolate coconut, dulce de leche, strawberry, chocolate peanut, sweetened condensed milk, and more.
It was a pure delight digging into each flavor.
I highly recommend the churros here as they are fresh and made to order. You can taste all the love that goes into each creation.
It is also a beautiful location because you are in the park blocks of the city with trees, grass, and fountains nearby. You can sit down at a nearby table or bench to enjoy your treats.
The second time we visited, we came for their savory options.
We opted for their nachos, Sonoran hot dog, taco plate, esquite (corn with mayonnaise, cream, chili, and cheese) fried plantains, and a side of classic churros for dessert.
My husband loved his Sonoran hot dog. If you have not tried one, you are in for a big treat! They top the hot dog with mayonnaise, tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, and more. It is an explosion of flavor!
I had the nachos, and they did not disappoint! They had a yummy ground beef topping with nacho cheese, sour cream, tomatoes, and lots of jalapenos.
My husband and I shared the esquite. This is a delicious dish of corn in a bowl or cup mixed with mayonnaise, cream, cheese, and chili. It is a delightful snack or side dish for a Mexican meal.
The fried plantains were delicious, but I would call them more of a dessert. They had sour cream and cheese and a light coating of granulated sugar. I am a big fan of plantains, and these were pure heaven for me!
Finally, we all shared the fresh churros. I love how crispy and sweet they are on the outside, with a fluffy inside. They are best eaten warm.
My recommendation for you is to pick up some dinner this weekend at Don Churro and top it off with a fresh churro treat for dessert. There is something for each member of your family here.
Last Friday I was able to call in our order on the phone, and then my husband picked it up on his way home from work. Everyone is very friendly, welcome, and professional here.
Enjoy your meal and treats!
