Over the past decades, Seattle has become quite the popular travel destination for many in the United States. Whether it is those who want to escape the heat in the summer, or those who want to visit the birthplace of Starbucks, it is a great city that I encourage you to visit. Once you arrive, you will want to start planning which of their amazing restaurants you will want to try. To save you the trouble, I have tried many spots in the area and narrowed down my favorites. Keep reading to learn more about the best foods of Seattle.

Pike Place Chowder on Yelp

This is a no brainer when you first come to visit Seattle. In business since 2003, Pike Place Chowder boasts the most popular item on all of Yelp. That alone means that you must give them a try. From their traditional clam chowder to their more creative options like wild halibut chowder, their soups are enough to rival anything you can find in all the New England states. They also have plenty of other seafood options such as lobster rolls and fish and chips. If you are planning a visit, be sure to get their early. It is not uncommon to see a line of people out the door waiting for their warm bowl of chowder. What helps is that there are multiple locations of their chowder but if you want a good view, I would suggest you try the original at the pier.

What I recommend: clam chowder and their lobster rolls

If you are in the mood for some amazing baked goods, then I insist you make a visit to Piroshky Piroshky. This place is the ultimate bakery in Seattle and is another must try when visiting Seattle. All the tourists come here to try their baked goods. They have something for those who are in the mood for a warm, savory snack or for those who are looking to treat themselves to something sweet. I like to order their chicken, curry, and rice Piroshky which features their tender chicken stuffed inside a flaky pastry. For those who are interested in indulging their sweet tooth, I insist you try their apricot turnover. They offer tons of vegetarian options as well. Some of their items change seasonally, so you officially have an excuse to visit them once again in the future.

Located on Post Alley, this restaurant is lucky enough to include fantastic views of the water along with its awesome cuisine. They feature fresh northwest oysters which are a great starter for sharing with friends. For my dinner, I like their beef short ribs braised in chianti. It is served with a side of their soft polenta. In addition to their wide variety of wines, they also offer a rather fancy dessert selection. They offer a rose panna cotta that is drizzled in a sweet hibiscus sauce and accompanied by a pine nut crumble. If you struggle to decide between dessert and wine, then I suggest you go with a dessert wine. Honestly, sometimes I come here just for the views. If I don't feel like Italian food or seafood, I'll just order some appetizers so I can sit by the water and enjoy people or boat watching. It's a very calming scene at this restaurant.

What I recommend: Oysters or their clams and noodles

When in the Seattle area, you will find that both tourists and residents alike are flocking to the above places and with good reason. From casual to fancy to take out, make sure to schedule enough time in your Seattle visit to make a stop at each of the above restaurants. Each of them is certainly worth the trip and there's so much to do than just eat but I come here mostly for the seafood.
