Many people gush over all the different things you can do in the city of Atlanta. But there are other places to go and things to see right in Dekalb county.

From movie theaters that serve drinks and a full menu to farmer's markets with unique finds. There is something special about living in Dekalb county.

1. The Lasershow on Stone Mountain: Let's start with something big. The laser show at Stone Mountain Park has fireworks, visual effects, and of course lasers. While it's usually a free event, COVID-19 restrictions mean only a finite amount of people are able to attend.

They have a show coming up on May 22 at 9:00 PM as well as other shows from August to September. So, if you miss sitting out on the lawn and enjoying the show, now is your chance.

2. Atlanta International Night Market: This market changes locations but is based in Norcross, GA. It's three days of food, fun, and music from the different cultures and ethnicities around the area. With 120 vendors from 75 different cultures and 45 live performers, you can experience diversity without buying a plane ticket.

It's hard to say when the night market will be up and running again. But I will keep a close watch on their social media. I love international festivals and this will be on my to-do list.

3. HipHop Tours of Atlanta: I know this was supposed to be about Dekalb county. But I wanted to throw this in because it was so interesting.

If you are a fan of hip-hop or music in general, then this would be a great way to spend your weekend. From 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM, you will be taken on a tour to see everything hip-hop in Atlanta. Such sites include Little Five Points, Tyler Perry Studios, Bankhead, and the Bluff (yes, from Snow on the Bluff).

It has some very good reviews from people who have done a tour. The tour guides are native to Atlanta and the places mentioned. So, you get the full history of each place plus the locals don't mind share a few stories too.

4. Nailed It DIY: I never knew there was a place like this in Tucker, Ga but I'm glad to talk more about it. Nailed It DIY is a place where you can make wooden crafts and then take them home. They have many events that you can reserve a spot for.

An example is Wine Down Wednesdays, where, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 P, you can pick a project like a plank or a lazy Susan and they will teach you how to make and customize your project to add to your living space. They even have project sessions for kids and teens. It's something you can do with the family or by yourself.

Learn how to make decor for your wedding or make something for the new nursery. They have many projects to choose from, just pick one and reserve your spot.

Those are just some of the amazing things you can do and see in Dekalb county. I hope you enjoy your summer and go exploring.

Stay Safe Everyone.
