(SAN FRANCISCO) In the Bay Area, the most common marriage between two working professionals is between two computer programmers — specifically developers of applications and systems software, according to a new analysis from the San Francisco Chronicle.

The Chronicle analyzed U.S. Census Bureau data collected from 2015 to 2019 to determine which Bay Area working professionals were most likely to wed each other. The analysis excluded marriages in which one of the spouses listed themselves as unemployed.

In the Bay Area — where there is an estimated 100,000 software developers — about one out of every 100 marriages is between two software developers.

Meanwhile, for the rest of the country, software developer unions make up less than one-tenth of a percent of all marriages.

Marriages between housekeepers and construction laborers are also common here and are almost 20 times more likely to marry each other.

Additionally, unions between physicians and surgeons are common. These residents are about 25 times more likely to get hitched than their share of the married population would predict.
