Is your dad a one in a million gem? Maybe he's a fan of gourmet and organic food or more pedestrian pastimes. Perhaps a stroll around a golf course, a tour of a ship or relaxing on the couch appreciating a livestream jazz performance might be more his speed. Maybe he has a sweet tooth and loves learning how to make chocolates. I hope you'll find something for your pop to enjoy.

Gem Sales

Gem and Mineral Sale in the clubhouse at 4134 Judah St, San Francisco, CA from 11:00-15:00 PDT. This could be something different for dad or he might already be interested in these natural wonders. There will be a guest dealer, Philip Persson of Persson Rare Minerals.

Museums

For something less luxurious and more down-to-earth SS Red Oak Victory Museum, 1337 Canal Blvd Berth 5, Richmond, CA, encourages you to BYOB—Bring Your Own Brunch! Some WWII history from a self-guided tour $10 for adults and $5 for children. Or you could splash out $20 and let the expert treat you to a guided tour of the ship.

Virtual Music and Zoom Events

Also part of the day at the SS Red Oak Victory Museum maritime adventure you'll find three lovely ladies who perform songs similar to Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy by The Andrew's Sisters. If your pop loved that type of music back in the day, he'll adore the Lovin' Harmony Trio in the video below. The singing starts at 6:42 on the video below. You can book your tickets for the museum and music here.

Do the Bay have a livestream event for jazz lovers on Sunday 20th June. Featuring the Marcus Shelby Quartet with Angela Davis on vocals. If your dad is super keen on jazz, there's a virtual month-long jazz fest in June with 18 concerts. Membership of virtual San Francisco Jazz is $5 monthly or $50 annual.

If your father prefers, you can sign him up for The San Francisco Magic Studio on Zoom! There are multiple dates available and tickets start at $45.

Parks and walks

The last weekend of May and throughout June, Chinatown, San Francisco will be closed to cars every Saturday and Sunday. Instead, Walkaway Weekends will be in place from 11:00 to 17:00, on Grant Ave. between California and Washington. You can take the family for a stroll around, explore, snack and shop in America's oldest Chinatown.

The Burlingame Parks & Rec Foundation has a Father's Day adult and junior golf tournament on June 20 at Mariner's Point Golf Centre. The day starts early with a putting contest at 8:30 am. Partnerships must be an adult and junior. Price $100 for each twosome. This is a non-profit government organisation. They advise registering early as they have limited tee times.

Foodies Luxury

Is your father a chocolate connoisseur? If so, he may salivate over Dandelion single-origin chocolates. This chocolatier uses cocoa beans from one farm or cooperative per batch. Just like vintners use one crop of grapes to make their wine.

Dandelion at 740 Valencia Street and Ferry Building are both open for drinks, chocolates, pastries and gift instant pickups or order at the door, in San Francisco. Show your dad the menu, I'm sure he'll find a 70% chocolate bar or a pastry that will suit his taste buds.

What I love most about Dandelion is that they have free virtual make your own classes when you buy a set of chocolates. E.g. Online 204: Make Your Own Truffles.

Foodies Organic

Last but not least. Does your dad like to rise early and dash off to a local farmer's market? Well, Clement Street opens at 09:00 on Sunday 20th June and closes at 14:00. Foursquare ranks this farmer's market #4 in San Francisco.

I guess you might be wondering who holds the #1 spot for healthy groceries is. Well, Rainbow Grocery Cooperative does. Would your father appreciate a trip to the best grocery store in San Francisco? Ask him, see what he says.

Rainbow Grocery is pretty much my reason for visiting San Francisco on a regular basis. Best grocery store in the world, hands down. All vegetarian, ethical and loads of fun. Rebecca Allen on Foursquare

I'd love to know what you like best in this selection of activities in San Francisco. Have fun choosing.
