(DALLAS) An 18-year-old man was arrested on Sunday in connection with the death of a 4-year-old boy found in the middle of a Dallas street, according to NBC News.
Darriynn Brown has been charged with kidnapping and theft, but according to Dallas Police Department, more charges are expected with a forensic review looming.
Executive Assistant Chief Albert Martinez told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth that investigators believed an "edged weapon" was used in the attack on the child. The unidentified victim was found dead early Saturday morning.
"Unfortunately a small child was lost today in our city through a violent act and we will pursue justice to find whoever did this and bring some sort of closure, not only to family but to the community," Martinez said. "...We are shocked, we are very angry about what has happened to this small child."
Brown was booked into the Dallas County Jail Sunday and is being held on a $1,500,000 bond.
The FBI crime scene unit is assisting in the investigation.
