Hayward, California, is a comfortable and inexpensive base destination for anybody who wants to conveniently visit the San Francisco Bay Area. I was there couple of years ago and I want to make sure that you understand why this is a great place to visit in 2021. Let's quickly start with the history of this city.

Hayward History

Hayward is a community in Alameda County, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area’s East Bay subregion. Hayward was ranked as California's 32nd most populated municipality. William Hayward, a dissatisfied gold prospector who arrived in 1851 and opened a hotel in 1852, is the city’s motto. The place was once an Ohlone Indian camp on Mission San José’s grazing lands.

Hayward Attractions

At Hayward Hills, just behind the city, you can get an outstanding panorama of Oakland, Silicon Valley, Fremont, and San Francisco in one single unforgettable view. Gardens, beaches, bars, specialty breweries, and theaters abound in the area. Top attractions include Hayward Regional Shoreline, Hayward Mural Arts Program, and Don Castro Regional Recreation Area.

Hayward Regional Shoreline

This stretch of the East Bay is a salt marsh habitat with a diverse bird population. For your stroll, borrow a pair of binoculars from the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center to see if you can spot double-crested cormorants and long-billed curlews.

Don Castro Regional Recreation Area

This mini wilderness, which serves as a quiet natural barrier between Hayward and the nearby Castro Valley, is known for its hidden lagoon. In the summer, the lagoon’s clear waters are a perfect place to cool off, and there’s a sandy beach along much of the circumference.

Hayward Japanese Gardens

This paradise, right in the heart of Hayward's bustling downtown, is a quiet haven where you can think. The Japanese Garden was the first in the Bay Area to be planned strictly according to standard guidelines.

Sulphur Creek Nature Center

This wildlife conservation center, a free attraction in one of Hayward’s green spaces, will teach kids important lessons about the natural environment. Every year, at least 900 animals are fed here, and they're housed in open enclosures so you can see them up close.

City Hall – Oakland

Oakland, a city that has changed dramatically in recent years, has long had a reputation as San Francisco’s rundown neighbor, but things are looking up these days, and you can come for the excellent cuisine. The city has always been diverse, and a visit to downtown will leave you stunned by the variety of foreign cuisines available.

Hayward Entertainment

If you are looking for entertainment Don Castro Regional Recreation Area is the perfect place to go. In the summer, the lagoon's clear waters are a perfect place to cool off, and there's a sandy beach along much of the circumference. You can see deer and raccoons creeping out of the treeline to drink at the lagoon if you come here in the evenings and have courage. Anglers come to Don Castro all year to catch catfish, bass, and trout, and you can hire a boat right on the beach.

Hayward Lodging

If you are hunting for fine dining, keep in mind that the Deluxe Inn offers air-conditioned rooms. A 24-hour front desk and room service, as well as free WiFi throughout the hotel, are among the amenities available at this property. Hampton Inn Oakland-Hayward and La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Oakland - Hayward are two other prominent spa hotels in Hayward.

Hayward Dining

OFF THE GRID is the place to go if you are hungry. On the sidewalks, you will find how diverse Hayward is, which is mirrored in the variety of restaurants. Taquerias in Mexico are especially fine, but you can also eat Korean barbeque, Vietnamese, Japanese, or traditional American diner fare. Buffalo Bills, one of the Bay Area’s oldest brewpubs, is also located in Hayward.

Hayward Shopping

The best choice is the Southland Mall. Whether you are looking for a place to buy. It provides service to a heavily populated area. The mall has strong anchors, a diverse national niche store mix, and a variety of themed dining options. Southland Mall has undergone a cosmetic makeover to update and modernize its appearance to suit new stores.
