In the southern part of the state, Springfield is an hour north of Branson. Springfield has a spectacular natural landscape with important social landmarks and an array of recreation activities, and it has the potential to be the best tourist destination in 2021. I was there myself couple of years ago and it was a really nice holiday.
Springfield History
Springfield, Missouri’s third-largest city and the county seat of Greene County, is the state's third-largest city. Springfield was established in the 1820s by a man named John Polk Campbell and his brother Madison, who moved to Southwest Missouri. The Osage, Delaware, Kickapoo, and other Native American tribes once lived in the region, but they left once white settlement started.

The Route 66 Springfield Visitor Center is an excellent place to begin your Route 66 adventure and learn about the city of Springfield, its museums, and its surroundings.
Pythian Castle
Pythian Castle was built in 1913 on the Missouri River. The Knights of Pythias constructed it, and the land was later given to the United States Military. The structure was designed so that Pythias fraternity members could use it as an orphanage or nursing home for their families.
Discovery Center
The Springfield Discovery Center is a museum focused on involving visitors. When you arrive at the museum, you can spend several hours learning how to use the different displays. You'll pass the time here studying without even realizing it.
Frisco Highline Trail
The Frisco Highline Trail is one of many great trails in Springfield, and it is probably one of the most famous. The trail connects Springfield and Bolivar and is 35 miles long. The trail is a dedicated National Recreation Trail with a combination of asphalt and gravel trails.
Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium
More than 225 animal species, as well as saltwater and freshwater marine life, can be seen at the Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium. The Out to Sea Gallery, which houses a six-meter-deep aquarium of almost a quarter-million gallons of water, is one of the main attractions. Sharks, rays, and other exotic fish can be seen in the aquarium.
Mediacom Ice Park
Take a trip to Mediacom Ice Park whether you need to learn how to skate or if you still know how to skate but want to better. The park has two big rinks and a variety of events to participate in.
Fantastic Caverns
Fantastic Caverns, a massive underwater cave cut out by an ancient river just northwest of Springfield, offers breathtaking elegance.
Springfield Entertainment
If you are looking for fun in Springfield, Landers Theatre is a lovely place to go. It has been used as both a legal cinema and a movie theater through the years. Landers Theatre is home to Little Theatre, a Springfield-based theatre company.
