If you have visited Crooked Tooth Brewing Company here in Tucson before you’ve likely seen a number of “Full Moon” labeled beers. Perhaps you went with the flow and ordered the beers, looking instead to the kind of beer and the listed ingredients written on the large chalkboard behind the bar. However, if you’ve asked the bartender about the Full Moon beers they will tell you they are specialty beers brewed once every month under the full moon. There is a bit more to the process though, and now, if you want to see first-hand what Crooked Tooth does for these specialty beers, you can now take part in a unique tasting experience.

Every Full Moon beer produced by Crooked Tooth is done so not only with unique ingredients, but special stones and crystals are used in the brewing process to help improve the natural alignment with both the moon and the seasons. Different beers are combined with different crystals for this.

The stones and crystals do not alter the taste of the beer, but if you are someone who follows astrology as well as the natural balance of the world and the ability for crystals to bring this alignment, helping yourself to such a beer may be exactly what you’re looking for. And, even if you’re not someone who believes in it, it’s still a fun reason to give a specialty beer a try.

Most of the time, Crooked Tooth Brewing Company produces the beers themselves and then sells the beer on tap inside the brewery and restaurant until the beer is out. However, this month it is possible to involve yourself in the process via a special tasting celebration.

On May 26 there is scheduled to be a full moon. To celebrate Crooked Tooth is inviting you to join them for a special guided tasting, right on the roof and under the full moon.

Staff members from Crooked Tooth will walk you through the brewing process and go over exactly what is done to infuse the beer with the unique stone or crystal. You will then be able to sample a 10-ounce pour of the Goddess Lakshmi Flower Moon beer. This is a Lavender Kolsch, which is a lighter German-style beer featuring a hint of floral aromas. The beer was infused using a moonstone for this particular full moon.

Tickets for the event are $25 and include not only the 10-ounce beer sample but as well as a custom pint glass. You do need to purchase the tickets ahead of time as seating and space is limited.

When you have your ticket you will not go to the Crooked Tooth Brewery for the event. Instead, you will want to go to The Graduate Hotel here in Tucson, which is located at 930 East 2nd Street. The event will take place on the roof of the hotel, but if you have trouble finding the location the hotel staff can assist you in making it to the rooftop. The rooftop patio and bar take up most of the roof, so there is plenty of space after you receive your tasting beer to find a spot, kick back, and relax. The Lavender Kolsch beer is limited as the brewery only makes so much of the beer and the rest will be for sale at the brewery itself. However, other drinks will be served and you can enjoy yourself at the hotel bar as well.
