Summer is nearly upon us and is the perfect time to get your food truck game on, so we've scoped out some of San Antonio's popular ones for this list.

We also suggested some dishes that should be tried at each truck (besides fries!) if you're looking for a few new eats outside the box.

San Antonio's mobile food trucks offer an impressive array of quality food you can enjoy outdoors in the South Texas warmth, from fresh tacos to lobster rolls.

Plus, during these pandemic times, it's always a plus to be able to dine outside.

Social media is updated most often and will have the latest information on location and hours, so be sure to check them out first to verify this all.

Sure, some folks are a little cheeky and apprehensive about mobile food trucks; these will give any decent, 4-star restaurant a run for their money.

What's more, they will beat out most fast-service restaurants when it comes to speed of delivery.

When you're running errands and looking for a quick bite to eat, food trucks are the perfect curbside solution. No longer are food trucks looked down on by people on the go, especially for folks seeking specialty items like vegan, barbecue, lobster rolls, tacos, or sandwiches.

So without waiting another #nomnom minute, here are some of our top picks and a fav dish to grab while you're there.

1. El Remedio

It is one of the best taco trucks around. From tacos to barbecue to sandwiches and beyond, 2021 Best of the City readers' winner (San Antonio Magazine) for Best Food Truck has plenty of options in its lineup, from the fan-favorite birria tacos to carnitas, hot doriceviche, and more. Ice cold beer tops it all off. Location: 2924 Culebra Road

2.Lada Ladies

An Enchilada-Themed Food Truck?! This gem specializes in ENCHILADAS! Yes, you read that right! They range from the traditional Enchilada Plate to serving it Burrito-style and can even Queso-fy it! Their Red Lada Sauce is the perfect mix of spices that's unforgettable after the first whiff. Ask for a side of Suiza sauce — you'll thank us later. Location: varies

3. Masshole (Lobster Rolls)

Perhaps the best lobster rolls in town. Let your thoughts roam free as you put together where the new San Antonio lobster roll truck Masshole gets its name.

A lobster roll on homemade brioche is the basis for the mayo, celery, salt, fresh tarragon, lemon juice, and zest—and of course, Maine lobster. And it's good, as in sold-out-in-a-couple-hours good.

Or grab the St. Anthony, a lobster roll with sweet Texas onion, mayo, cilantro, lime juice and zest, and jalapeños.

Massachusetts is proud of its particular brand of contrariness.

Locations and hours vary. Check for updates on Facebook: Masshole Food truck.

4. Franklin Jack

Owner and chef Anthony Bueno worked in both the L.A. and Houston restaurant scene for years before returning home to S.A. With over 40 options to choose from, the menu is pretty extensive for sure, with choices ranging from quesadillas, chicken sandwiches, waffles, burgers, and even funnel cakes.

My fav though, is their burgers. Here at Franklin Jack come with 7-ounce patties made with a mixture of ground short rib, brisket, and chuck, and that's a sign of culinary commitment that goes above and beyond. The G.O.A.T.G.O.A.T. ($15) comes layered with flavor that starts with the distinctive tang of roasted goat cheese that gives way to smoky bacon and finishes with the crunch of fried onion strings.

Location: 11911 Crosswinds Way

5. Mia Marcos Pizza

Mia Marco's Pizza is just off Interstate 35 in Selma, on the road up to A.T.X. Mia Marco's opened up about five years ago and is named for owner Derek Sanchez's kids Mia and Marco.

Pizza is their passion, something they have chased around the world, perfected, picking up secrets about dough, sauce, and sausage along the way, then brought home to Texas.

The best one there? The Danbo Pie. Boom!

Location: 15939 Interstate 35, Selma

6. PB & J with Tay

Jeremiah Burns launched this concept, "PB&J with Tay" peanut butter and jelly shop in 2019 as a traditional brick & mortar place. Later, he and his partner added the food truck in 2020.

Nearly the entire menu of sandwiches, save one, is designed with peanut butter as the star ingredient. Coupled with Texas toast and melted butter, it's the perfect combo that sings when it's all together.

For sure, the best sammich is named after my fav singer and called Elvis Presley "The King."

Elvis was not only famous for his moves and voice but also because of his love for peanut butter sandwiches. Some say he was "The King" of PB sandwiches.

Location and hours: Varies from week to week, but the truck is usually parked around Selma and Cibolo

So, there you have it folks, those are the best truck stops and food trucks to get a great meal from this summer around San Antonio, Texas.
