Newsies and Waitress alum Jeremy Jordan is set to play the unlikely hero Seymour in the Off-Broadway revival of Little Shop of Horrors, producers announced Friday.

“THIS JUST IN: Tammy Blanchard, @JeremyMJordan, and Christian Borle are coming home to Skid Row when Little Shop of Horrors RE-OPENS at the Westside Theatre on September 21, 2021! #LittleShopNYC,” the show’s Twitter feed said.

Blanchard (Gypsy, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying) will play Audrey and Borle (Peter and the Starcatcher, Something Rotten!) will play Orin in the sci-fi, musical-comedy about how a struggling floral shop becomes famous and successful after the mysterious arrival of a blood-sucking plant from outer space.

The show’s songs include "Skid Row (Downtown,)" "Somewhere That's Green," “Dentist!” and "Suddenly, Seymour."

The musical debuted Off-Broadway in 1982 and was adapted as a 1986 film, starring Rick Moranis, Ellen Greene and Steve Martin.

The most recent Off-Broadway stage revival opened in late 2019 shortly before the coronavirus pandemic shut down New York theaters for more than a year. Blanchard and Borle led the show’s cast, along with Jonathan Groff, whom Jordan is replacing.

Tickets for the upcoming performances are on sale now.
