(YUMA, Ariz.) A new Customs and Border Patrol tent facility to detain migrant refugees was opened in Yuma last week, the Associated Press reported.
The 90,000-square-foot tent structure is designed to hold 500 people and is set up behind the CBP Yuma Sector Headquarters building.
The facility was built over the course of 20 days by Deployed Resources LLC.
Staffing will be handled entirely by contractors.
It will cost $25 million to operate for the next four months. The contract allows for an additional four months for $4.6 million per month.
This facility is part of the Biden administration's plans to expand detention centers after an increase in travel across the border led to overcrowded and inhumane conditions in CBP facilities.
