Critical Race Theory emerged when scholar-activists began to theorize the ways that U.S. jurisprudence had the effect of maintaining whites’ privileged position in the social order, under the pretext of a color-blind law that no longer made explicit distinctions based on race or color.

During a recent press conference in Naples, Governor DeSantez demonstrated his facility for stoking racial resentment for political gain by mischaracterizing Critical RaceTheory before an eager, largely white audience. DeSantis said, “Florida civics curriculum will incorporate foundational concepts with the best materials, and it will expressly exclude unsanctioned narratives like critical race theory and other unsubstantiated theories.” Once the audience finished applauding, DeSantis continued, “There’s no room in our classrooms for things like Critical Race Theory. Teaching kids to hate their country and to hate each other is not worth one red cent of taxpayer money.” This is dangerous, calculated race-baiting nonsense.

Ron DeSantis says and does outrageous things. That’s what overly ambitious, calculating politicians who crave power do. So, it comes as no surprise to hear him arrogantly speak about things he knows nothing about. Critical Race Theory has fast become America's new institutional belief. Yet most Americans have never heard of it. I just read about it in a publication from Hillsdale College which I subscribe to. To understand CRT you would have to learn some history about Marxism. Marxist Left built its political program on the theory of class conflict. Marx believed the primary characteristic of industrial societies was the imbalance of power between the capitalists and the workers. The solution to that was a revolution. The workers would ultimately understand what was going on, take over production, overthrow the capitalists, and finally have social change into a new society. Many regimes in the 20th century tried this and they all failed. The Soviet Union, China, Cambodia, and Cuba racked up a body count of millions of their own people. They were only remembered for mass starvation, gulags, and executions.

Americans had never developed a sense of class consciousness or division as other countries have. They sought to create a revolutionary alliance based on racial and ethnic categories rather than worker and capitalist. Fortunately, this revolution lost out in the l960s to the civil rights movement. The Civil Rights movement sought the fulfillment of the American promise of freedom and equality under the law. Americans preferred to improve the country rather than overthrow it.

Now, UCLA law professor Cheryl Harris has proposed suspending private property rights, seizing land and wealth, and redistributing them along racial lines. They have established the Center of Antiracist Research at Boston University and it has proposed the creation of a federal Department of Antiracism. It would be independent of the elected branches of government and would have the power to nullify, veto or abolish any law at any level and curtail speeches of any political leader who is deemed antiracist. All this comes back to over-throwing capitalists which is a Marxist idea.

CRT has been implemented in reports focused in the federal government. The FBI was holding workshops on intersectionality theory. The Department of Homeland Security told white employees that they were committing "microinequities" and had been "socialized into oppressor roles." The Treasury Department held training sessions that said "virtually all white people contribute to racism" and that they must convert to "antiracism."

In elementary schools, children were forced to take a racial profile test and rate themselves on an "oppression matrix" based on the idea that straight, white, English-speaking, Christian males are members of the oppressor class and must atone for their privilege.

This is no longer an academic matter as it has become a tool of political power in our society.
