(VAIL, Colo.) A Chicago Cubs minor leaguer facing drug charges after police discovered methamphetamine and oxycodone in his duffel bag appeared in Eagle County Court last Thursday, according to ESPN.

Jesus Camargo-Corrales, 25, a pitcher for the Cubs minor league affiliate in South Bend, Indiana, was pulled over on Interstate 70 for speeding and drifting lanes, according to the arrest affidavit.

Police said their K-9 unit alerted authorities to the car's rear-wheel well and back seat.

Authorities said they found a Cubs duffel bag containing 21 pounds of methamphetamine and 1.2 pounds of oxycodone pills after Camargo-Corrales permitted sheriff's deputies to search his vehicle.

In an interview with police, Camargo-Corrales claimed a friend of his from Sinaloa, Mexico, home of the Sinaloa Cartel, offered him $500 to deliver the duffel bag to Denver. He also claimed that he thought the bag contained shoes or clothing but indicated that he was aware of the drugs, according to police.

"We are aware of the rest of one (of) our minor league players," said Julian Green, Cubs' senior vice president of communications. "We are investigating this matter and cannot provide additional comment until we have further details."

The Eagle County jail confirmed that he was still in custody as of Saturday, where he is being held on a $75,000 bond.

Camargo-Corrales is facing charges of unlawful distribution of methamphetamine and oxycodone and unlawful possession of both drugs.
