San Diego Mission Bay Resort is an 18-acre property located in the heart of San Diego sitting waterfront at Mission Bay Park. Flaunting a “barefoot chic” beach lifestyle, the property is perfect for families seeking a true getaway, with comfy accommodations and plenty of on-site activities and amenities.

Accommodations

We stayed in a multi-level suite with SO MUCH SPACE. Seriously, our family of five could live in the two-story unit flaunting a master bedroom, kitchenette, living room, walk-in closet, dining table, two full bathrooms, and a large bayfront patio. However, you don’t have to book the “villa” in order to be satisfied- the property has plenty of plush suites overlooking the sand. Renovated and built for traveling families, the impressive accommodations will leave you feeling comfy and relaxed- just make sure to book a room with water views. Some even have a personal fire pit!

Activities

The property has a fantastic array of pools overlooking the bay. There’s a dedicated wading pool for little kids (with fun water features!), along with lounging areas for mom and dad. Create your own epic chill zone in a poolside cabana with oversized plush lounge chairs, Wi-Fi, and a TV.

You can’t beat the resort’s location, aside from the hustle, bustle and business of the main part of Mission Bay. The bay is calm- a good place for toddlers to dip their feet, look for shells and play in the sand. And there’s no need to overpack; chairs and umbrellas are available per your request- simply reserve them ahead of time.

The property sits along as bayside path, so start your day with a nice stroll or scooter ride; Surreys are available to rent as well. And our favorite part… the action sports facility located steps from the hotel! I highly recommend renting a FunCat; it’s an electric catamaran that’s super fun for little kids (even they can navigate!).

There’s also a bunch of resort games; drop by the front desk to check out ping pong equipment, jumbo checker boards, volleyballs, tennis equipment, bocce balls, croquet sets, horseshoes, basketballs, badminton sets, sand toys and more.

Where to Eat

After a full day of sand and sun, you’ll be starved. With plenty of property dining options, you won’t have to venture out for meals. The main restaurant, Covewood, offers safe outdoor dining, and Plaza Del Sol provides savory craft cocktails and shareable small plates. And if you’re in a PJ kind of mood- opt for room service.
