Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak recently announced two major changes in the COVID-19 vaccination plan. In an effort to inoculate the maximum number of people, Sisolak gave some updates on the state's vaccination program. By March 22, 2021, the people of Nevada above the age of 16 with specified health conditions will be eligible to get vaccinated. The health conditions that determine the eligibility have been included in Nevada’s COVID-19 vaccination playbook.

People can start with the vaccination process through the Retail Pharmacy Program. Sisolak also gave another update on the vaccine plan that would come into effect later this year. By April 5, 2021, Nevada will open the vaccine program to all people above the age of 16 irrespective of any health condition.

As per the official statement from the Governor, the availability of appointments a few weeks after April 5 will be limited due to the lack of supply of vaccines from the federal government."While Nevadans aged 16 and over will be eligible to schedule appointments beginning on April 5, appointment availability may be limited for the first few weeks based on dose allocation provided by the federal government,” it stated.

Nevada Governor Calls Updates On Vaccine Plan Crucial Step

Sisolak is of the opinion that the news updates to the COVID-19 vaccine plan will be a critical step to get Nevada back on track. There is no doubt that vaccination is the only way forward for the US. The Governor understands it very well and is doing everything at hand to vaccinate everyone as soon as possible. For him, the new updates on the vaccine plan will play a very crucial role in reviving the state.

As per the Governor, the priority is still on vulnerable groups like old age people, people with certain diseases, and frontline workers. If the majority of the population gets vaccinated, it gives Nevada a chance to open its economy to 100 percent. "This is a critical step forward in our vaccination effort that will allow more Nevadans to schedule appointments and receive their shot. By continuing our strong push to vaccinate high-risk Nevadans, including seniors, individuals with underlying conditions, frontline workers, individuals with disabilities, and Nevadans experiencing homelessness, we are working to protect the most vulnerable in our State,” he said.

Sisolak Assures Nevada Will Try To Speed Up Vaccination As Much As Possible

Opening up the vaccination to all Nevadans could pose many problems for the state government. At present, there is a lack of supply of vaccines in the state even though only a limited population of people is eligible for them. By allowing 16 year-olds and above the age to take the vaccine, the demand for it will increase exponentially. However, the Governor has assured Nevadans that the state will do everything at hand to ensure that the maximum number of people are vaccinated every day. He is very optimistic that the end of the virus is near but is expecting people to take precautions and actively take part in the vaccine plan.

"On April 5, all Nevadans aged 16 and above will be eligible for the vaccine and the State will work closely with our local partners to ensure we’re putting as many doses as possible into arms every day. This timeline should remind Nevadans that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but we must continue to remain vigilant until more residents can get vaccinated,” he said.

People Experiencing Trouble In Signing Up For Vaccine

With so many people becoming eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, there is a lot of chaos and confusion in Nevada. There are many people who fall under the criterion and are eligible for the vaccine. However, they are having trouble signing up and getting an appointment for the vaccine. One person with hypertension gave his experience of signing up. He said: "Signing up was a little challenging…. I was kind of just going to Walgreens and other pharmacies trying to find out if any appointments were available after my eligibility time and eventually, I found the Vax 4 NV at some point today. I checked several times today.” Things are expected to get smoother as the days go by.
