One misconception people have about introverts is that we are all shy. Whenever my mom calls me shy I get really annoyed.

The last thing I am is shy.

Many people misconstrue my love for being alone with being shy and that’s not the case at all. I don’t speak unless I have something to say and I listen before opening my mouth to speak.

I also think about what I'm going to say before I say it.

A lot goes on in my head when I’m quiet but people always mistake that as me being “quiet” and “shy”, which I am neither.

The worst thing I've ever done was to date before I knew who I was and what I liked. It took me years and a broken heart to figure out what I liked and disliked but I finally understand myself a lot better, which makes dating easier.

Dating someone who always wants to run the street or be the life of the party isn't a good fit for me. I’m a homebody and I like activities that don't require a lot of people to make it fun.

I’ve always seemed to meet people who try to change who I am and what I like and I’m not the type to change easily for anyone. I’m not big on jewelry, big gestures, or empty words. Actions make my heart flutter and so do sitting down at a library reading books together.

For many people, going to the library for a date, taking a walk, or hiking isn't exciting. I don’t like excitement. I like simple things.

But let me tell you about the perks of dating an introvert before I bore you with my simplicity.

Introverts are caring and supportive.

When I take the time to care it means that I really like a person. Introverts will take the time to listen to whatever is bothering you and will stick by you no matter the cost. They won't leave you to worry on your own.

However, introverts will respect your wishes.

Giving my support to my ex is something I don’t necessarily regret but I wish it would've gone to someone who appreciated the care and effort.

When an introvert finds a partner is deserving of their love, time, and respect, the match is inseparable.

Introverts don't like drama.

Drama isn't necessary when dating an introvert. I’ve mentioned before how I don't like arguing. It’s just in my to sit and argue over topics that can be solved by having a simple conversation. Whenever someone sees fit to argue, I shut them out. Rather my brain shuts down and I move on to something different.

Drama kills our soul and isn’t productive to us being introspective.

Drama isn't worth our time.

Introverts don't play games with love.

Being an introvert I can easily find happiness within myself. I don't date someone for the sole cause of finding happiness.

Therefore I don't need to play games when dating someone.

I do have standards when it comes to dating but I have no time for playing games. When an introvert enters a relationship, it's because they believe in the relationship.

Introverts are less likely to cheat

I’ve been watching Love ft. Marriage and Divorce and if I've learned anything from that drama, it's that anyone can be unfaithful.

However, introverts are very picky people.

They don't just lend their time to anyone. If an introvert cheats on you, it’s pretty much over for your relationship.

For me, I’d rather be honest with someone about how I’m feeling than waste my time dating someone else. Dating multiple people takes up a lot of time and energy, and introverts enjoy being alone too much to do something that exhausting.

Introverts think before they speak.

Introverts are thoughtful and have a curious gaze. They tend to look at things from different perspectives. Their perception of things will be different and you’ll be amazed at how they can associate so many thoughts with simple things in life.

Some may say this is where overthinking happens but it’s helpful to have someone in your life who can think about all the possible outcomes of one action.

Dating an introvert can bring a little more peace to your life as we don’t like drama. At the end of the day, a peaceful bond with someone is all anyone is really looking for in a relationship.
