(MILWAUKEE) Peter Woods has been waiting for eight years to take a goofy photo for his driver's license, and he finally got his chance in late February, according to Patch.

The Milwaukee man, 34, shaved off half of his face, leaving him with a grizzly beard and mustache on one side and a clean shave on the other, before he went to the Milwaukee Department of Motor Vehicles for an updated license photograph.

Woods told Patch he wasn't trying to make a political or religious statement. He just wanted to make a joke, he said.

"This was an opportunity for me to make a joke. If I'm going to look at my license for the next eight years, I might as well get a laugh out of it," he said.

He noted he typically doesn't walk around like this and that he only did it for the photo. Furthermore, nobody at the DMV even mentioned his unusual look.

Woods explained that he tried this eight years ago during his last renewal but, due to a clerical error delaying the photo, he had to shave before he could take another photo.

"I've been waiting eight years to make this joke and very excited to have it happen," Woods said. He added he might do it again the next time his license is up for renewal.
