(ATLANTA) The Texas-based Minute Maid location is closing as Coca-Cola makes Atlanta its new headquarters.

The company confirmed with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the Sugar Land office is closing and the company will merge with the main headquarters near Georgia Tech.

The Texas location housed around 120 employees, many of who worked remotely during the pandemic. Some will stay in the area and some will relocate to Atlanta with the company, according to Kate Hartman, a company spokeswoman.

“The Coca-Cola Company is on a journey to transform how we operate so we can emerge stronger from the pandemic and accelerate our growth,” Hartman said.

“Part of this process involved a full evaluation of our real estate footprint in the U.S. and Canada and through that, we made the difficult decision to close our office in Sugar Land, Texas,” she continued.

The decision to relocate headquarters will not impact jobs nor lead to additional job losses within the company.

“Due to the pandemic, as a company, we’ve embraced remote working as a part of our employee experience. We plan to continue to offer flexible work opportunities where possible as we make progress toward building a more networked organization,” Hartman said.
