(REDWOOD CITY, Calif.) EA Sports announced Tuesday that it will bring back its widely popular college football video game after it went on a hiatus in 2014.

EA Sports partnered with the Collegiate Licensing Company, allowing it to be the exclusive developer of simulation college football video game experiences.

"We’ve heard from the millions of passionate fans requesting the return of college football video games,” Cam Weber, EA Sports executive vice president and general manager, said in a press release. “We love the energy, tradition and pageantry of college football and I am beyond thrilled to say we are back in development. We have a lot of really exciting work ahead of us, and a great team that is eager to bring a new game to players in the next couple of years.”

No official return date was announced, but ESPN reports that it will not be this year.

Through the partnership with the CLC, the game will include the rights to more than 100 institutions featuring the logos, stadiums, uniforms, gameday traditions and more.

Under current NCAA rules, the game would not be able to include student-athlete names, images and likenesses.
