THE WOODLANDS, TX – Two bank jugging suspects were arrested in a joint investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Houston Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Precinct 3 Constable’s Office.
27 year-old Ja Michael Cruse and 29 year-old Khoury Thomas were both arrested for Burglary of a Vehicle and Evading Arrest after being caught in the act by officers.
According to MCSO, Cruse and Thomas began following a citizen from The Woodlands branch Bank of America to the CVS a FM 1488 and Kuykendahl. When the citizen went inside the store, Cruse and Thomas began attempting to break into the vehicle to get the money the suspects believed to be inside the vehicle. However, law enforcement had been following the suspects.
Both men began running from law enforcement, but officers were ultimately able to capture Cruse and Thomas. The investigation is still ongoing, according to MCSO, and more charges could be forthcoming in the case.
Bank jugging is when suspects watch bank customers entering and leaving banks in search of those who may be carrying out large sums of money. The suspects will then follow the unsuspecting victim to another location, where they will try to rob or burglarize the suspect for the money. Please take special care in hiding bank bags and transactions when handling money, and to always keep an eye on your surroundings.
