Photoshopped into countless memes on social media, the lonesome image of Senator Bernie Sanders has probably popped up in your Instagram feed more than several times by now. I never thought the senator would be a trendsetter but here we are talking about where to get his handmade mittens.
The cozy brown-and-white mittens were made by a teacher from Essex Junction, Vermont, Jen Ellis, with repurposed wool sweaters and are lined with fleece made from recycled plastic bottles. According to a recent interview on Late Night with Seth Meyer, Bernie said the kind teacher is somewhat overwhelmed by the high volume of requests.
So okay, we can't get the exact mittens but I did find a few similar-looking ones in case you're searching for a pair to be on-trend, too.
