(BOSTON) A former Boston Police Department clerk has been accused of forging her supervisor's signatures in order to increase her overtime pay by nearly $30,000, according to the Associated Press.

Marilyn Golisano has been charged with one count of embezzlement from an agency that receives federal funds, six counts of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft.

According to Patch, Golisano faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted on the embezzlement charge and 20 years for each count of wire fraud.

CBS reported that she allegedly stole $11,094 in 2017 and $18,090 in 2018. Investigators took notice when Golisano’s pay suddenly increased without her duties changing and no new overtime hours being approved by her supervisor.

Golisano was in charge of overtime paperwork for her unit. In 2017 and 2018 she submitted dozens of fraudulent overtime slips with the forged signatures of at least three of her supervisors, according to the prosecutors.

Cellphone records also indicate that while overtime shifts would appear to show Golisano working in downtown Boston, she was actually miles away.

“Rather than working in service of her community, Ms. Golisano did a disservice to taxpayers and to the reputation of her colleagues in law enforcement,” Andrew Lelling, U.S. attorney for Boston, said in a statement.

She is due in federal court in Boston on Wednesday.
