9-year-old shot in the foot while inside Winston-Salem home

(WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.) Police are searching for the person or persons responsible after a 9-year-old was shot when someone opened fire in her Winston-Salem home Monday.

Authorities responded to the shooting on the 1800 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, according to Fox 8.

Police determined four people were inside the home when the shooting occurred.

The 9-year-old was struck in the foot during the shooting. No one else inside the was injured.

She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are not releasing any new information at this time but are asking anyone with information to contact the Winston-Salem Police Department at (336) 773-7700 or Crime Stoppers at (336) 727-2800.
