(GREEN BAY, Wis.) Aurora Medical Center officials said an employee has been let go after an investigation revealed an employee admitted they intentionally left out dozens of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine overnight at a Grafton, Wisconsin location.
WEAU reports, per a Wednesday news release, Advocate Aurora Health officials said an internal review was immediately launched after learning of the incident earlier this week and officials originally believed it was human error.
However, the employee revealed the doses were intentionally removed from a pharmacy refrigerator.
As officials continue their investigation, they said they are disappointed with the effect this individual's actions will have.
"This individual’s actions will result in a delay of more than 500 people receiving their vaccine," officials said.
The employee has not been identified by Aurora officials.
Grafton Police said they are working in conjunction with the FBI, as well as the Food and Drug Administration on their ongoing investigation.
