(WASHINGTON) President Trump declared victory Tuesday, on the so-called "War on Christmas", after he signed an executive order giving federal employees a holiday on Dec. 24, according to The Washington Times.

In a fundraising email this week, Trump said he and his supporters will "show the Left that Americans proudly celebrate Christmas."

It seems that even the Trump brand has been susceptible in recent days to the War on Christmas.

To his credit, President-elect Joe Biden recently took a side in the entrenched political debate.

The declaration is not without context, as the culture war surrounding the December holiday dates back a decade ago to when talk show host turned podcaster Bill O'Reilly did numerous segments complaining about the rapacious effect of "PC Culture". Chief among O'Reilly's sticking points was the move to say "Happy Holidays" rather than "Merry Christmas."

In the aforementioned email, President Trump decried the "Democrats' Pathetic War on Christmas" without any specific examples.

Former President Barack Obama took similar moves in 2012 and 2014, giving federal employees Dec. 24 and Dec. 26 off, respectively.
