(TALLAHASSEE, Fla.) Florida basketball forward Keyontae Johnson remains in critical but stable condition at Tallahassee Memorial after collapsing on the court Saturday during a game against Florida State University.
Johnson stayed at the hospital overnight accompanied by Florida Athletic Director Scott Stricklin, head coach Mike White and associate AD Dave Werner.
“We appreciate all the medical personnel who have helped Keyontae,” Stricklin said. “Keyontae received terrific care on site by the FSU staff and at Tallahassee Memorial, which has worked in consultation with UF health. We're glad his parents can be by his side, and they all feel the support of Gator Nation.”
Johnson collapsed on the court as the Gators were coming out of a huddle following a timeout. His teammates immediately called for the medical staff and he was given emergency medical attention and taken to the locker room on a stretcher.
Before the incident occurred, Johnson had just dunked on an alley-oop pass from teammate Tyree Appleby.
The junior from Norfolk, Virginia, tested positive for COVID-19 in the summer. Florida State won the game 83-71.
