Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, North Texas cities and civic groups are reimagining Christmas parades, reports The Dallas Morning News.

Some of these events have been canceled, like the Richardson Christmas Parade and the Plano Lions Club Christmas Parade, while others are going virtual.

The Dallas Holiday Parade will be a TV special this year that will include performances from Dallas landmarks and footage from last year’s parade broadcast. The special will air at 10 a.m. on Christmas on Channel 33, KDAF-TV.

Grapevine has two events that families can attend and maintain social distance. The Twinkle Light Boat Parade will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and can be viewed from the shoreline. Watercraft in holiday lights will float across Lake Grapevine, beginning at Twin Coves Marina. The floating parade, which ends in fireworks, is visible from Fairway Drive, Rockledge Park and Silver Lake Marina Park.

Grapevine’s Parade of Lights: Reverse Style allows people to drive by while the parade’s floats, bands and dignitaries are stationed on Main Street. The reverse parade takes place from 6:30-9 p.m. on Dec. 3.

The GM Financial Parade of Lights, which usually marches through downtown Fort Worth, premiered on TV and online on Sunday and is available to watch via the Parade of Lights’ YouTube channel. The event, which included live performances, was broadcast from the Tarrant County Convention Center where there was no in-person attendance. Best-of-show floats are available for viewing from 6-8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday on Main Street in downtown Fort Worth.
