(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The annual Lakewood Ranch High School (LRHS) canned food drive has come to an end as the winners are announced, and final cans collected.

Mustangs donated 3525 cans to St. Joseph's Food Pantry.

Exceptional Student Education (ESE) teacher Melissa Koehlinger’s first period class came first, collecting a total of 182 cans.

The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps programs (JROTC) first period class came in second with a total of 175 cans collected.

Math teacher Macie Adams’ first period class came third with a total of 175 cans.

While only the cans from the first period were counted for the competition the JROTC program collected a total of 1441 cans and helped load the truck will all the cans collected. One Mustang from JROTC brought in 289 cans.

Since Monday, Nov. 16 Mustangs have filled 36 empty boxes with donated canned food.

Math teacher and the food drive sponsor Meghan Sugalski said, “Thank you to all who participated and helped the facilitation of the canned food drive.”
