(CHARLOTTE, NC) The Hornets have revealed new, simpler uniforms based on the team’s 1997-2002 pinstriped uniforms, according to the team’s website. This is the Hornets’ first redesign since the team went back to its Hornets name in 2014.

The uniforms feature a double-pinstripe design reminiscent of the team’s mid-1990s look. But instead of multicolored pinstripes, the uniforms have single-colored pinstripes -- teal for the white uniform, and white for the teal uniform. The simpler color scheme is an effort to “evolve the look through the use of a monochromatic design that incorporates only the team’s traditional primary colors of teal, purple and white,” according to a team press release.”p>

The white uniform says “Charlotte” on the chest in teal and has teal numbers outlined in purple. The neck and arm openings are teal. The teal uniform says “Hornets” on the chest in white and has white numbers. The neck and arm openings are white. The logos of team’s advertiser, LendingTree, and manufacturer, Jordan Brand, appear on both jerseys. The shorts have the team’s “cell” patten on the sides, and a cell logo on the waistband.

The uniforms were designed by RARE Design, Jordan Brand, the Hornets and the NBA’s Global Merchandising Group, according to a team press release. The jerseys are expected to be released at retail outlets on October 1.
