JSX, the air carrier known for public charter flights, is set to expand its presence at John Wayne Airport (JWA) in Orange County, California. The Orange County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved JSX’s relocation across the airfield, allowing the carrier to move from ACI Jet’s leasehold on the east side to Jay’s Aircraft Maintenance leasehold on the west side. Flight operations from the new location at 3000 Airway Avenue are expected to begin around March 25.
The move was driven by JWA’s Taxiway A, D, and E Reconstruction Project, slated to start this spring. Despite the shift, JSX will maintain uninterrupted service while also increasing its annual customer allocation, providing even more West Coast and beyond travel options, according to a press release. The relocation reinforces JSX’s commitment to low-noise travel, as the carrier operates Embraer 135/145 aircraft—the quietest passenger jets at JWA.
JSX CEO Alex Wilcox praised the partnership and support from Orange County officials. “Today’s approval marks a significant milestone for JSX and for Orange County,” Wilcox said in a press release. “Our new home at John Wayne Airport is a testament to the collaborative spirit of our partners at JWA, the County of Orange, and local stakeholders who value our model of joyful, simple air travel.”
Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that the move aligns with the county’s commitment to maintaining noise standards and supporting local aviation. “This partnership allows JSX to continue operating at John Wayne Airport and demonstrates our commitment to supporting operators who follow the County’s curfew and passenger limits while flying quieter aircraft,” Foley said in a press release.
Founded in 2016, JSX operates up to 120 public charter flights daily, connecting travelers to 25 destinations across Arizona, California, Colorado, Mexico, Florida, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, and Texas.
